The Ongoing Threat Of Christian
Phariseeism And How It Corrupts
Both The Gospel And
Bible Prophecy

An Ungodly Supression
Of The Truth

When any student of the Bible decides to understand and identify the many wrong teachings found within Christendom (an effort often referred to by theologians as "Christian Apologetics") they immediately face a major problem. There are countless numbers of false religious doctrines, which cause massive confusion and frustration. One goal of the Rock of Offence ministry is to simplify this task, whenever possible.

A vast majority of these false Christian teachings (many are major denominational doctrines) involve shifting our faith away from God's New Covenant Grace and the finished work of Christ at the cross ... by re-defining Christian faith according to the works and merit-based rules that governed the previous Old Covenant (or Old Testament) program. Both efforts (the true and the false) can appear, on the surface, to be supported by the Bible because both claim to use Scripture as its authority.

However, one of these efforts lifts Scripture
from its 'Divinely established context' to
defend its teachings. This failure to
'respect the context of the Bible' (Paul called
it "rightly dividing the Word of God") changes
the teaching from being "Sound Biblical Doctrine"
into a false type of "Christian religion",
which isn't 'Christian' at all. This practice
tricks many good and well-intentioned church
goers who will end up "missing heaven".

"Christian Phariseeism" Is A False
Theology That Masquerades As "True
Christian Faith" And Travels Under
Countless Different Names And Labels.
As A Result, Many Who Refer To
Themselves As "A Bible-Believer...
Or Christian Fundamentalist" Could
Actually Be A "Christian Pharisee"
Without Knowing It.

This Becomes A Real Possibility,
Since Most Christian Ministers
And Their Followers Fail To
Acknowledge That It's Easy To
Believe And Interpret The Bible
The Wrong Way - And That They Might
Be Guilty Of This Practice.

Refusing To Respect Biblical Context
Is The Most Common Way The Bible Is
Believed And Interpreted Incorrectly
Within Christendom Today.

Most are familiar with the term "fake news", which is nothing more than propaganda (often called 'an official narrative'). The media and its partners in government wants you to believe their "narrative" ... which is often not the truth. Along the same lines, the Bible warns that there is also "fake or counterfeit Christianity". In Galatians 2:4-5 the Apostle Paul, who wrote over half of the New Testament - labeled those who corrupted the truth of the Gospel ... as "false brethren" or "false Christians", who outwardly claim to preach the only true "Biblical Christianity". As a result, Paul spent his entire ministry warning the Church or "Body of Christ" about this deception. The Galatian Church was one of the first victims of this dangerous theology. In an attempt to turn them around, Paul wrote his "Epistle to the Galatians", which was designed to expose the error they had embraced.

A number of denominational groups - on both the Roman Catholic and Protestant sides of the isle exist and tirelessly work - from inside the Church - to undermine the true Gospel of Christ ... which includes the Rapture of the Church. Outwardly, they claim to be God's most faithful (and properly trained) Christian ministers, yet teach carefully crafted doctrines that corrupt (Saint Paul uses the word 'pervert') the Grace-based salvation that Jesus shed His blood to provide. During Christ's earthly ministry we knew them as "the Pharisees", who publically claimed to love and obey God ... but later coerced Pontus Pilate into crucifying God's Son. While publically claiming to be God's true ministers, they were actually Christ's most formidable opponents and enemies.

Many professing Christians and their leaders, especially the ones in the previously mentioned group, tends to supress - and even forbids - any discussion or teaching that supports the true Gospel of Christ ... claiming that it's divisive and displeases God. Yet, when you carefully read the New Testament, both Jesus our Lord and the Apostle Paul sternly warned about this dangerous and deceptive doctrine and the groups that teach it. As previously stated, Paul wrote an entire Epistle exposing the error. Why were these warnings so important? Because the doctrine in question changes (corrupts and perverts) the Gospel of Christ into something that God never intended or accepts ... and teaches a counterfeit "look-alike" gospel in its place - that does not provide salvation. The truth of the Gospel and the salvation (eternal life) it provides is at stake - which is why these offensive warnings are not only necessary, but also approved by our Heavenly Father.

Here is one of the many comments Jesus made concerning this problem ...

"...this people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." (Mark 7:6-7)

Contrary to popular opinion, the Pharisees did not disappear after Christ's crucifixion. They simply infiltrated the Church, modified their doctrine, and became what the New Testament in Acts chapter 15 calls; "Christ-believing Pharisees". Their ultimate goal was to corrupt the Gospel of Grace (that provides eternal life "apart from works") as taught by Saint Paul ... by re-inserting (after God removed them) various forms of obedience to Old Testament Law (often obedience to just the "Ten Commandments") as requirements to obtain salvation (eternal life).

We are introduced to this crisis in Acts Chapter 15, when the Apostles, led by James (Our Lord's half-brother) called an official conference in Jerusalem (often referred to as "The First Jerusalem Apostolic Council"). Their job was to evaluate the requests of these "Christ-believing Pharisees" ... who demanded that Paul add "obedience to the Law" to his Gospel message of Grace. After considerable deliberation, the council overwhelmingly denied their request and wrote an official letter to the Churches warning them about this unapproved doctrine, which involved the illegal practice of mixing Law and Grace together.

Unfortunately, The council's decision did not end the crisis.

These "Christ-Believing Pharisees" - now quietly taking on the titles of apostle, prophet, bishop, teacher, pastor and "ministers of the Gospel" - continued to spread their erroneous doctrine throughout the early Church. Once again, the Church at Galatia was one of the first victims, which caused Paul to write his "Epistle to the Galatians" in an effort to address the deception that nearly destroyed the congregation. This is why various modern-day Bible Scholars refer to the popular practice of adding some form of "Law-keeping" as a requirement to be saved as ... "The Galatian Error or The Galatian Heresy".

Here are four warnings given by Paul about Christian Pharisees that he refers to as "ministers of Satan"

"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, WHICH IS NOT ANOTHER; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED." (Galatians 1:6-8)

"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, THAT THEY ARE ENEMIES OF THE CROSS OF CHRIST: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who set their mind on earthly things." (Philippians 3:18-19)

"But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. For such are FALSE APOSTLES, deceitful workers, TRANSFORMING THEMSELVES INTO APOSTLES OF CHRIST. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. THEREFORE IT IS NO GREAT THING IF HIS (SATAN'S) MINISTERS ALSO TRANSFORM THEMSELVES INTO MINISTERS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, whose end will be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:12-15 -- Emphasis Added)

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; AND AVOID THEM. FOR THEY THAT ARE SUCH SERVE NOT OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, but their own belly; AND BY GOOD WORDS AND FAIR SPEECHES DECEIVE THE HEARTS OF THE SIMPLE (SPIRITUALLY INEXPERIENCED)." (Romans 16:18 -- Emphasis Added)

We find it interesting that Jesus said
the following to the Church of Ephesus...

"I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. AND YOU HAVE TESTED THOSE WHO SAY THEY ARE APOSTLES AND ARE NOT, AND FOUND THEM TO BE LIARS ..." (Words of Jesus from Revelation 2:2 - Emphasis Added)

Under the "New Covenant of Christ",
Also Referred To As "The New And
Living Way Of Christ" In Hebrews
10:19-23 - God Radically Changes
The Way He Deals With Sin and
the Sinner

Christ's Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension ... and the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts Chapter 2) launched "The Age of Grace" ... that radically changed how our Heavenly Father previously related to the human race under "The Age of the Law" that ruled before the cross. Ministers who embrace various forms of "counterfeit theology" - which now dominates the world-wide institutional Christian Church - quietly rejects this "Divine Biblical context" ... replacing it with deceptive doctrines and so-called 'fundamental Bible teachings' that illegally intermingles Law and Grace - and 'mixes-together' these two radically different administrations (often referred to as "dispensations").

A refusal to accept the truth - that the 'Cross of Christ divides God's Word (the Bible) into two different administrations or Ages' is one primary reason for this practice of mixing "Law and Grace". It is based on the falsely religious (and unbiblical) idea that God has not changed the way He deals with sin and the sinner since Old Testament (or Old Covenant) times. It is therefore reasoned; if there has been little or no change ... then principles of Law and Grace must be intermingled - and not treated as being mutually exclusive. This is just another way of saying that Christ's sacrifice had little to no effect on the way God deals with sin, WHICH IS ACTUALLY A DENIAL OF THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST AND HIS SHED BLOOD THAT PERMANENTLY TAKES AWAY ALL OUR SIN. Yet, it is Christ's finished work in permanently taking away our sin that causes the change in administrations (or 'Ages') FROM OLD COVENANT LAW -- TO NEW COVENANT GRACE ... WHICH ENDS AT THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH.

Following the Rapture the rules that govern salvation reverts back to the Old Testament standard. As a result, God no longer treats both eternal life and righteousness as His "free unmerited gifts", but as spiritual benefits earned (not given by unmerited Grace as it is now) through "FAITH PLUS GODLY LIVING INVOLVING MERITORIOUS WORKS AND KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS". Also, the believers position "In Christ" - as it existed for the Church during the Age of Grace - is no longer available, since the unique 'Holy Spirit indwelled Church' (that the indwelling was designed for - making it "The Body of Christ") has been removed from the earth - and resides in Heaven as "The Bride of Christ".

Believers will exist (likely in greater numbers) after the Rapture of the Church ... since a large global revival (Led by 144,000 on fire Messianic Jewish evangelists) will take place attended by the millions who were "left behind". Unfortunately, many of these will be former 'professing Christians' (church goers) who rejected the true Grace-based Gospel of Christ and tried to earn God's gift of eternal life. But, it's important to realize that these believers are not called "The Church" - they are called "Tribulation Saints". The late Jack Kelly of the "Grace through Faith" internet ministry provides an excellent commentary about what happens after the Church is removed from the earth.

The Nature Of Post-Church Salvation
By Jack Kelly

Each 'Age' is governed by a different set of rules known as 'a covenant', which is why 'mixing these covenants together' is not only spiritually illegal ... BUT IT ALSO MAKES GOD APPEAR TO SAY THINGS THAT HE DOES NOT SAY. THINK ABOUT WHAT THAT MEANS. In like manner, governments, journalists and various news media outlets have used this "out-of-context" unethical practice for hundreds of years ... to make any public figure appear to say things that they did not say. A majority of the public (which unfortunately includes most professing Christians) fail to discern when the information they hear is actually 'out-of-context'. The reason this deceptive practice is used so often is because IT WORKS.

Saint Paul, who wrote over half of the New Testament explains this "division" in the following way:

"Be diligent to present yourself approved of God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly (or correctly) dividing the Word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15 -- Emphasis Added)

"For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles -- IF INDEED YOU HAVE HEARD OF THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD WHICH WAS GIVEN TO ME FOR YOU, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power." (Ephesians 3:1-7 - Emphasis and Clarifications Added)

Paul also warned that Old Testament Law (involving works and human merit) -- and Grace cannot be mixed or intermingled because one cancels out the other.

"AND IF BY GRACE, THEN IT IS NO LONGER OF WORKS; OTHERWISE GRACE IS NO LONGER GRACE. But if it is of works, IT IS NO LONGER GRACE; otherwise work is no longer work." (Romans 11:6 - Emphasis Added)

The Gospel Of Christ In Easy To
Understand Terms:

Grace - Which Is Based On The
Finished Work of Christ Changes
God's Previous Rules Concerning
How He Deals With Sin And The

Under Old Testament Law an individual's obedience and behavior were necessary in possessing "righteousness and salvation". As a result, "righteousness and salvation" depended on obeying His commandments and having godly behavior. Our Lord Jesus Christ, who conducted his earthly ministry "before the cross" - and under Old Testament Law - clearly explained this requirement in the story of the "rich young ruler".

"Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" So He (Jesus) said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."" (Matthew 19:16-17 NKJV --- Important Note: When the young man asked Jesus which commandments to keep in order to obtain eternal life, HE QUOTED FROM THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF THE MOSAIC LAW in Matthew 19 verses 18 through 22.)

Here's the problem that actually carries unthinkable eternal consequences.

There is a disastrous failure to recognize that a New Age of Grace (also known as the New Covenant), OPERATING BY DIFFERENT RULES began after Christ's crucifixion - resurrection - ascension - and the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. As a result, a vast majority of Christians are taught that the way Jesus previously described how eternal life is received to the rich young ruler ... remains the same after the cross (today). It's important to understand that Jesus was correct in what He told this young man, since Old Testament Law was in authority at the time ... and Jesus perfectly kept the Law as God's Son.

The New Covenant Gospel That Freely
Provides Eternal Life As God's Gift
Is Entirely Based On The
Substitutionary Sacrifice of
Jesus Christ.

Bible Scholars Also Refer To The
Substitutionary Sacrifice Of Christ

When Jesus cried out with a loud voice on the cross; "IT IS FINISHED" - it meant THE PRICE FOR HUMAN SIN WAS 'PAID IN FULL' AND A NEW AGE OF GRACE WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN. A vast majority of professing Christians fail to recognize that there was a 'major rule change' that took place between Christ's earthly ministry and His crucifixion, resurrection the the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. This 'major rule change' was made possible by 'the fully paid price of Christ's Divine blood' at the cross, for all our sin (past-present-and future).

THIS CHANGE IN RULES, NOW CALLED "THE NEW AND LIVING WAY OF CHRIST" WAS TRULY RADICAL. Following the cross God now reckons His Son's sacrifice to be fully credited to anyone who trusts and beleives in Him through 'faith only' with no requirement for works or obedience to the Law ... BECAUSE ALL THE WORKS AND OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW WERE FULLY SATISFIED BY JESUS CHRIST AS OUR SUBSTITUTE. It means that God now sees all believers as being "dead in Christ" (through His crucifixion), but also raised to a new "imputed" sinless life (through His resurrection). Contrary to popular church teachings, the sinless life (known as "The Righteousness of God" that is now imputed to all believers is no longer based on their own ability to live sinless (like it was under the previous Old Testament program), but is now based only on Christ's sinless life AS THEIR SUBSTITUTE - having completely paid the death penalty for our sin - in our place; FOREVER. Since God considers the believer "dead in Christ" He no longer charges sin to their account - because dead people no longer commits sin. God now directly credits believers with Christ's sinlessness - regardless of their own spiritual state or condition ... or as the popular hymn says; "Just As I Am".

"For He made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM." (2 Corinthians 5:21 -- Emphasis Added)

"The Substitutionary Death of Jesus Christ" is a phrase used by modern-day Bible scholars to more clearly describe the relationship the New Testament believer enjoys with our Heavenly Father. Following the crucifixion, resurrection - and the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 - when the Spirit of Christ arrived to indwell believers - Scripture now refers to this relationship or position as being "In Christ". The phrases "in Christ, by Christ and with Christ" are often used interchangeably over 120 times in the New Testament as a way to reveal that God no longer grants His benefits of righteousness and eternal life according to the believer's meritorious works and behavior (as He did under the Old Testament program of the Law) ... but now freely imputes these benefits as Divine gifts - according to their faith in Christ's finished work as their substitute. GOD NO LONGER USES OR ACCEPTS ANY OTHER WAY ... INCLUDING THE WAY PREVIOUSLY USED BY THE OLD TESTAMENT PROGRAM THAT REMAINED IN FORCE DURING CHRIST'S ENTIRE EARTHLY MINISTRY ... BECAUSE AFTER THE CROSS AND THE SHEDDING OF CHRIST'S BLOOD ALL THE RULES INVOLVING OUR SALVATION CHANGED. More information about this often ignored truth is available in the following Bible study.

What Does It Mean When God
Says 'I Do Not Change'

Here are a few key Scriptures from the
New Testament that reveals this new
program of Grace initiated through the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Due to
their importance, some are repeated
throughout this study.

"...not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (Titus 3:5-7)

"For the wages of sin is death, but THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD." (Romans 6:23)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"FOR GOD'S GIFTS AND HIS CALL ARE IRREVOCABLE. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]" (Romans 11:29 Amplified Bible)

"Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. BUT TO HIM WHO DOES NOT WORK BUT BELIEVES ON HIM WHO JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY, HIS FAITH IS ACCOUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, just as David also describes the blessedness OF THE MAN TO WHOM GOD IMPUTES RIGHTEOUSNESS APART FROM WORKS: "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; BLESSED IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE LORD SHALL NOT IMPUTE SIN." (Romans 4:4-8)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW. Now all things are of God, WHO HAS RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, NOT IMPUTING THEIR TRESPASSES (SINS) TO THEM, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:17-19 -- Emphasis Added)

"For He made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM." (2 Corinthians 5:21 -- Emphasis Added)

"For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." (Colossians 3:3)

"For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, MUCH MORE THOSE WHO RECEIVE ABUNDANCE OF GRACE AND OF THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as through one man's (ADAM'S) offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so THROUGH ONE MAN'S (JESUS') RIGHTEOUS ACT THE FREE GIFT CAME TO ALL MEN, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, SO ALSO BY ONE MAN'S OBEDIENCE MANY WILL BE MADE RIGHTEOUS." (Romans 5:17-19)

Phariseeism and its dominant "counterfeit Christian religion" generally rejects the rules of Christ's New Covenant (the Substitutionary death of Jesus Christ or "The Great Divine Exchange") and places all Christians back under some kind of "Law keeping", where righteousness and salvation becomes subject to their own behavior and obedience once again. This is a "cloaked denial of the finished work of Christ at the cross" and carries unthinkable eternal consequences.

Grace Does Not Release
Us From Holy Living

Obtaining salvation through the unmerited and undeserved favor of God (called "Grace") does not release us from the task of avoiding sin, doing good works, adopting Christ-Like behavior and holy living. God instructs all Christians to seek after these things. However, these attributes are never to be used as 'conditions' to obtain His gift of eternal life. Scripture instructs us to avoid sin because it is inconsistent with our new life in Christ (Romans 6:1-4). Our Heavenly Father also tells His children that seeking these character attributes is the right thing to do - because they represent "the Body of Christ" on earth (Ephesians 1:15-23).

Worldly people often form their beliefs and opinions about God by observing the conduct and behavior of His representatives. If the believer's conduct involves a sinful lifestyle, it often causes those around them to have an improper or false perception of God - that often leads to total rejection. Yet, despite these reasons, our Heavenly Father sternly warns that these Christ-like attributes (which involves much work and effort to develop) must never be used as requirements or pre-conditions to obtain and keep what Scripture calls, God's unmerited and undeserved gift of eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 2:19-21, Galatians 3:10-12 and Galatians 5:4, Romans 4:4-8, Titus 3:5-7)

One Of The Christian's Greatest
Needs Is To Become
"God Inside Minded"

The ministers that embrace the countless expressions of "Christian Phariseeism" are a dominant force within the Christian Church - and found in nearly all major denominations. Never underestimate their sincerity or devotion to what they refer to as "Biblical truth" ... but is actually doctrine that uses out-of-context and "spiritualized" Scripture as its foundation. Similar to the Pharisees during the time of Christ, they often cite their "seminary or religious training" as to why they are right and the "laity" ... are wrong. Yet, we find that Jesus condemned the religious "clergy-laity' mindset after the Holy Spirit (Who Jesus declared to be 'the teacher of the Church') arrived to indwell all believers on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. As a result, all true Christians ARE NOW INDWELLED BY "THE TEACHER OF THE CHURCH" (THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS ALSO CALLED "THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST"), which gives them 'the potential' to be far better informed in spiritual matters than seminary-trained clergy. But, due to a lack of teaching, a suppression of truth and erroneous doctrines ... this is not always the case.

An Important Biblical Truth: Scripture reveals that God exists as three personages - or "Trinity" ... known as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. This Trinity is also known as "The Godhead", where The Father is God, The Son (Who we now know as Jesus Christ - or using His Hebrew name; Yeshua HaMashiach) is God ... and The Holy Spirit (also known as "The Spirit of Christ") is God. As a result, when the Holy Spirit indwells a person who has just believed on Christ (the New Testament refers to this as "the sealing of the Holy Spirit") ...

Paul said it this way:

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

The precious benefit/gift of having the indwelling Holy Spirit (or "Christ in us") individually teach us (as the Church or Body of Christ) only became available after the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. Contrary to popular opinion, it was not universally available to all believers before the cross. The crowds who believed and followed Christ during His earthly ministry did not have this benefit. The Twelve Disciples did not have this benefit before the Holy Spirit arrived on the day of Pentecost - but did have Jesus, Who was not yet living inside them as "The Spirit of Christ" (but would later) ... as their teacher and instructor in the flesh.

Despite the fact that 'the Holy Spirit as teacher' (a most important Biblical truth and benefit) is clearly taught by Jesus, the Apostle John and the Apostle Paul ... we almost never hear it taught from the pulpit. It seems that most (but thankfully not all) of the clergy do not want individual Christian believers in their congregations (often referred to as 'the laity') to know that they have direct access to God's Indwelling Holy Spirit AS THEIR PERSONAL TEACHER, Who is far more knowledgeable about spiritual subjects than they (the clergy). This is why it seems that many among the clergy do not want individual Christians to have this knowledge because it gives them direct access to Divine spiritual instruction that they cannot control.

For nearly 2000 years, a major problem within organized Christendom continues to be ministers (sometimes referred to as 'shepherds') who exercise an unbiblical form of authority over their congregations ... by making themselves the only authority and source for all spiritual knowledge. Contrary to popular opinion, these kinds of unbiblical authority structures are not only found within Catholicism, but are also found on the Protestant side of the isle. The New Testament calls it "Lording it over" - and it's forbidden because Jesus Christ (now indwelling the believer as "The Spirit of Christ") IS TO BE THE CHRISTIAN'S ONLY LORD. Peter said it this way ...

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; NOR AS BEING LORDS OVER THOSE ENTRUSTED TO YOU, BUT BEING EXAMPLES TO THE FLOCK; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. (1 Peter 5:2-4)

Listen to what Jesus, John and Paul
has to say about the Holy Spirit as
"The teacher of the Church".

Jesus made the following statement shortly before the cross ... concerning the major changes about to take place.

"And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; FOR IF I DO NOT GO AWAY, THE HELPER (THE HOLY SPIRIT) WILL NOT COME TO YOU; BUT IF I DEPART, I WILL SEND HIM TO YOU. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU, BUT YOU CANNOT BEAR THEM NOW. HOWEVER, WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, HAS COME, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; AND HE WILL TELL YOU THINGS TO COME. He will glorify Me, FOR HE WILL TAKE OF WHAT IS MINE AND DECLARE IT TO YOU. All things that the Father has are Mine. THEREFORE I SAID THAT HE WILL TAKE OF MINE AND DECLARE IT TO YOU. A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father." (Words of Jesus from John 16:4-16 NKJV -- Emphasis Added)

Jesus continues ...

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, THAT HE MAY ABIDE WITH YOU FOREVER - the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; BUT YOU KNOW HIM, FOR HE DWELLS WITH YOU AND WILL BE IN YOU." (Words of Jesus from John 14:16-17 -- Emphasis Added)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Jesus reveals a major change brought about by His blood that initiated the New Covenant. Jesus conducted His entire ministry under the authority of the previous Old Testament program ... where the Holy Spirit would leave an individual if they continued to commit sin (as in the story of King Saul). Later, after King David's sin with Bathsheba, he pleaded before God, in tears, that He would not take His Holy Spirit from him. That's how the Holy Spirit operated before the cross under the Old Testament program. However - notice that Jesus said that a time was about to come, where once the Holy Spirit indwells (lives inside) a believer...

Although Jesus didn't specific mention the New Covenant in this passage - that's what happened after the cross - on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, when the New Covenant began to operate. This is a New Covenant provision that has been under a relentless attack from pharisaical theologians and ministers within the Christian Church since the first century. As a result, many modern-day Christians are deceived into disagreeing with Jesus - choosing to believe that the Holy Spirit and the salvation He provides continues to leave anyone who regularly commits sin. This is actually a 'cloaked denial' that Jesus took away all our sins (past, present and future) at the cross - and remains a major characteristic of Phariseeism.

The Apostle John continues Christ's
previous teaching ...

But the anointing which you have received from Him ABIDES IN YOU, AND YOU DO NOT NEED THAT ANYONE TEACH YOU; BUT AS THE SAME ANOINTING TEACHES YOU CONCERNING ALL THINGS, AND IS TRUE, AND IS NOT A LIE, AND JUST AS IT HAS TAUGHT YOU, you will abide in Him. (Words of Saint John from 1 John 2:27 NKJV -- Emphasis Added)

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: BECAUSE GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD." (Words of Saint John from 1 John 4:4 -- Emphasis Added)

Now listen to these exciting words
from the Apostle Paul, who provides even more light on what Jesus previously taught about the Holy Spirit who now indwells all true believers in Christ:

"However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. BUT WE SPEAK THE WISDOM OF GOD IN A MYSTERY, THE HIDDEN WISDOM WHICH GOD ORDAINED BEFORE THE AGES FOR OUR GLORY, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'

BUT THE NATURAL MAN DOES NOT RECEIVE THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, FOR THEY ARE FOOLISHNESS TO HIM; NOR CAN HE KNOW THEM, BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For 'who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?'

BUT WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST." (1 Corinthians 2:6-16) inside the Christian believer
as "The Spirit of Christ" is a New
Covenant truth that is left out
of many sermons because it's considered
either "divisive" or symbolic.

The Holy Spirit's Role
In Salvation

The Distortion of Bible Prophecy

One reason we discuss "Christian Phariseeism" is because of the corrupting influence it has on Bible Prophecy.

Here's how it works:

When you illegally re-insert obedience to the Law (or any kind of work) - as a requirement to be saved or possess eternal life - it not only cancels "the Grace by which we are saved" (See Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 11:6) but also corrupts our understanding of the Rapture, which is a "Grace-based salvation event" that takes place before the 7 year Tribulation as revealed by the Prophet Daniel.

It is "The Grace of Christ" that guarantees that the Rapture of the Church is "Pre-Tribulational" and exempts all authentic born-again blood-bought Christians from the Divine judgments of the Tribulation ... that God pours out on a world that rejected His Son. Yet, Christians accepted and believed on His Son, meaning they are exempt from this horrific global judgment. AS A RESULT, THIS EXEMPTION CAUSES GOD TO REMOVE THE CHURCH (BODY OF CHRIST) BEFORE THE JUDGMENTS BEGIN. Christians are exempt because the blood of Jesus has already cleansed them of all sin that ultimately demands judgment. As a result, if Christians are required to go through even one of the judgments of the Tribulation - it would make God an unjust Judge - since He is subjecting Christians to be judged, once again, for sin AFTER HIS SON HAD ALREADY TAKEN THE JUDGMENT FOR ALL THEIR SIN AT THE CROSS ... AS THEIR SUBSTITUTE.

But, because of widely accepted and erroneous doctrines such as Phariseeism and Replacement Theology (and many others) - this exemption from judgment is not only rarely taught, but considered by some to be false teaching ... despite the fact that it's a major tenant of Christ's New Covenant salvation.

The following describes the common religious error that is the source of most of the problems:

We should remember that salvation under the New Covenant of Christ only comes "by Grace through faith without works". But, according to Romans 11:6 and Ephesians 2:8-9, adding "good works of any kind" as requirements to be saved (or possess eternal life) - CANCELS THE GRACE BY WHICH WE ARE SAVED and returns the sin that Jesus died to permanently take away ... back onto the Christian believer. Likewise, reinserting "obedience to the Law and its works", in any measure (which includes the Ten Commandments) into the requirements for salvation - CANCELS GRACE IN THE SAME WAY and keeps the Christian in a constant state of sin, WHERE THEY ARE NOT EXEMPT FROM GOD'S JUDGMENT.

[Important Note: Even when we limit obedience to just the Ten Commandments - no one is able to perfectly keep them, which means - without Grace - every one trying to live "under the Law in any measure" remains under sin and its judgment despite their best efforts to live holy. The New Testament calls this "a curse".]

Here is a list of Scriptures that clearly warn about this common religious trap that the New Testament refers to as "bondage".

"For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." (James 2:10)

"FOR AS MANY AS ARE OF THE WORKS OF THE LAW ARE UNDER THE CURSE; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." BUT THAT NO ONE IS JUSTIFIED BY THE LAW IN THE SIGHT OF GOD IS EVIDENT, for "the just shall live by faith." YET THE LAW IS NOT OF FAITH..." (Galatians 3:10-12 -- Emphasis Added)

"Therefore BY THE DEEDS OF THE LAW NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT". (Romans 3:20 -- Emphasis Added)

"You have become estranged (separated or cut-off) from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; YOU HAVE FALLEN FROM GRACE." (Galatians 5:4 -- Emphasis Added)

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: FOR IF RIGHTEOUSNESS COME BY THE LAW, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN." (Galatians 2:20-21 NKJV Emphasis Added)

For those who embrace this unbiblical practice of mixing Law (works) and Grace together (similar to the "Christ-believing Pharisees" of Acts chapter 15) ... the Rapture of the Church is now incorrectly considered to be either Mid or Post-Tribulational - with sin (and its judgment) continuing to condemn the Christian, causing them to need additional purification during the Tribulation. We have found that this requirement for "additional purification" (meaning the Church must go through either part or all of the Tribulation) is a wildly popular belief - with few exceptions - among those who embrace the Mid and Post-Tribulational positions. However, this popular belief actually represents a denial that the Blood of Jesus Christ - and the finished work of Christ in general - PROVIDES COMPLETE AND TOTAL PURIFICATION FROM SIN ... and therefore ETERNALLY EXEMPTS the Christian believer from God's judgment ... especially the judgments that occur during all 7 years of the Tribulation.

This 'cloaked denial' of Christ's finished
work is a direct attack against New
Covenant salvation and the Blood of
Jesus Christ that paid for it ... and
originates from within the organized
Christian Church.

We have found that a vast majority of those who claim "the Pre-Tribulational Rapture is false teaching" - has embraced, at some level, either the doctrine of Phariseeism or Replacement Theology, which operates under what Bible scholars often refer to as "The Galatian Error - or the Galatian Heresy". Dispite the fact that both these major doctrines (along with their countless expressions and offshoots) are demonically influenced ... they are easily found throughout Christendom. The following Scriptures help to expose these deceptive teachings.

"For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. MUCH MORE THEN, HAVING NOW BEEN JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, WE SHALL BE SAVED FROM WRATH THROUGH HIM. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." (Romans 5:6-10 - Emphasis Added)

"FOR GOD HATH NOT APPOINTED US TO WRATH, BUT TO OBTAIN SALVATION BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHO DIED FOR US, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him." (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 - Emphasis Added)

"THERE IS THEREFORE NOW NO CONDEMNATION (JUDGMENT FOR SIN) TO THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS, who do not walk according to the flesh (or trying to earn salvation through their behavior), but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2 - Emphasis Added)

(Paul is speaking to the Thessalonian Church) "For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, EVEN JESUS WHO DELIVERS (OR RESCUES) US (ALL AUTHENTIC CHRISTIANS) FROM THE WRATH TO COME." (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 - Emphasis Added)

[Important Note: The terms wrath, condemnation and God's judgment (for sin) are often used interchangeably in the New Testament.]

"Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. BUT TO HIM WHO DOES NOT WORK BUT BELIEVES ON HIM WHO JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY, HIS FAITH IS ACCOUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, just as David also describes the blessedness OF THE MAN TO WHOM GOD IMPUTES RIGHTEOUSNESS APART FROM WORKS: "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; BLESSED IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE LORD SHALL NOT IMPUTE SIN." (Romans 4:4-8 - Emphasis Added)

Important Note: Contrary to many pharisaical and "holiness" church teachings - the Lord no longer imputes sin to the Christian, even when they do sin. This benefit (actually it is given as God's unmerited gift) is made possible because the blood of Christ "took away" all of the Christian's sin (past-present and future) and declared them as permanently "Righteous" - as revealed in the following Scriptures.

"For if by the one man's (Adam's) offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of Grace AND OF THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, EVEN SO THROUGH ONE MAN'S (JESUS) RIGHTEOUS ACT THE FREE GIFT CAME TO ALL MEN, RESULTING IN JUSTIFICATION OF LIFE. FOR AS BY ONE MAN'S (ADAM'S) DISOBEDIENCE MANY WERE MADE SINNERS, SO ALSO BY ONE MAN'S OBEDIENCE MANY WILL BE MADE RIGHTEOUS." (Romans 5:17-19 - Also See Romans 4:4-8 previously quoted)

"For He made Him who knew no sin (Jesus) TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM." (2 Corinthians 5:21 -- Emphasis Added)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW. Now all things are of God, WHO HAS RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, NOT IMPUTING THEIR TRESPASSES TO THEM, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:17-19 -- Emphasis Added)

"AND IF BY GRACE, THEN IT IS NO LONGER OF WORKS; OTHERWISE GRACE IS NO LONGER GRACE. But if it is of works, IT IS NO LONGER GRACE; otherwise work is no longer work." (Romans 11:6 - Emphasis Added)

A Major Deception In The Church

The doctrine of "Christian Phariseeism" deceives so many professing Christians because it appears to be taken from the Holy Scriptures. But here's the problem: Its ministers and their followers embrace and teach the Scriptures that supports the doctrine ... "out of context". The Holy Scriptures have a unique context that must be respected. The Apostle Paul called it "rightly (or correctly) dividing God's Word" (See 2 Timothy 2:15). If we teach God's Word in a way that ignores this Divinely established context - where everything in the Bible is mixed together (or makes Old Testament Israel and the New Testament Church interchangeable, where the Church becomes "The New Israel") ... then we are actually teaching a false "Christianized religion" that God rejects, while insisting that we're faithfully teaching solid Biblical truth.

A vast majority of professing Christians either believe or were taught to ignore the Bible's context - causing them to mix everything together. They are told; "If a teaching or doctrine is in the Bible, then you are required by God to obey it". However, there are two qualifications that all Bible teachings must satisfy. First, it must be found and supported by Scripture (or it must be "in the Bible"). Secondly, it must be taught within the context where God placed it ... or as Paul stated; it is only a valid teaching if it passes the "rightly divided" test. BUT, ONLY A SMALL MINORITY OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANS RESPECT THE SECOND CONDITION. This is why Christian Phariseeism has deceived so many - and carries unthinkable eternal consequences.

An Easily Recognizable "Red Flag"

Readers have probably seen or heard the term "Hyper-Grace" used either from the pulpit or on a Christian website. This is a popular term used by Phariseeism to defend its practice of mixing together - obedience to the Law - and Grace as the way salvation is received and kept today. But, their practice contradicts the ruling from "The First Jerusalem Apostolic Council" of Acts chapter 15 - that governs authentic New Testament salvation. In our commentaries and Bible studies, we spend a lot of time exposing this toxic and misleading argument often labeled as "Hyper-Grace". Our teaching on "The Battle for God's Grace and its Connection to the Hyper-grace Controversy" (available at the end of this article) is one source of information. The Great Imposter

The Apostolic Authority Of The
New Testament

We should always remember that the "First Jerusalem Apostolic Council" in Acts chapter 15 - along with the Apostle Paul (who wrote over half of the New Testament) rejected this Pharisaical doctrine that now dominates many sectors of Christendom. "Christian Phariseeism" is a form of "counterfeit Christianity" and is therefore a most serious subject that many seek to avoid ... because it causes anger and division. But, when it comes to defending the "truth of the Gospel of Christ" God makes it clear that He approves of this kind of division. Regardless of the pain and frustration this subject produces - all believers should understand this dangerous threat to the Gospel of Christ - and Bible Prophecy - which has operated 'inside the Church' since the first century ... and has deceived many. As a result, there may be many good people that miss heaven by making the mistake of putting their faith in this error.

Here is the letter the First Jerusalem
Apostolic Council sent to the Gentile

Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas,[g] and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

They wrote this letter by them:

The apostles, the elders, and the brethren,

To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia:

Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, "You must be circumcised and keep the law" - to whom we gave no such commandment - it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.
