The Torment Caused by Partial Rapture
Doctrine and the Red Flags to Look For

In order to expose some of the more deceptive teachings about the rapture, we include an important interview hosted by Tim Moore and Nathan Jones of Lamb and Lion Ministries at the end of this section. They invite 'Tyler from his YouTube channel Generation2434' to discuss (and warn) about a widespread mental disorder called "partial-rapture trauma" that afflicts and terrifies many Bible-believing Christians throughout the Church.

Partial-rapture trauma (now becoming a spiritual "epidemic") occurs when a born-again Christian holds the erroneous belief that only those who practice 'holy living', possess an abundance of righteous works, and have repented from all sin (meaning they have stopped sinning or have "overcome" sin) ... will be chosen to leave in the rapture. This also means that those who are truly "born-again" (authentically saved), yet fail to possess these "behavioral qualifications" at a level acceptable to God -- will be left behind for further purification during the Tribulation period. As a result, they believe that only "high performance Christians" leave in the rapture, while the Christians that don't qualify are left behind ... hence the term "partial rapture".

It's important to notice, that in this case, qualifications for the rapture (the final stage of our salvation established on Grace) are based entirely on the efforts, behavior and religious performance of the believer ... where 'The Finished Work of Christ at the Cross' -- that actually makes the believer "qualified and perfectly righteous and worthy" -- is not mentioned or included. As a result, it's impossible to know (or have the assurance) that you truly qualify UNTIL THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE, which is what causes the trauma.

Due to the disastrous trauma and spiritual destruction this doctrine has produced over the years - and the fact that it teaches a works-based man-made salvation -- some within Christendom (including this ministry) label the "partial-rapture doctrine" a heresy ... because it radically changes the qualifications for the Rapture of the Church, which is a major part of the Gospel of Christ.

Christians who use the internet have probably
noticed that ... the 'religious fear and
bondage ministers' (yes, unfortunately such
ministers do exist) have redoubled their
efforts. Their teachings should be considered
DISCERNMENT RED FLAGS and involve topics
such as :

RED FLAG #1: There is no such thing as "the Rapture" in the Bible. This statement is often made because the word "Rapture" is not specifically found in our English Bible's text. But, those making this statement are taking unfair advantage of the listener's ignorance -- because verses and phrases that describe the rapture are found in the Bible, such as ...

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

Over the centuries, various preachers and theologians have assigned the word "Rapture" to describe "the catching away of believers into the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air", who are alive on earth at the time of Christ's appearance. In his commentary entitled "What is the Rapture" Joel Rosenberg provides a better explanation :

"While the word rapture does not appear in modern English translations of the Bible, the concept is rooted in Scripture. The word itself comes from the Vulgate, the Latin translation of the Bible. In 1 Thessalonians 4:17 in the Vulgate, the Greek word harpazo is translated rapturo or raeptius, which means "to seize, carry off by force; to seize on, claim for one's self eagerly; or to snatch out or away." Most English translations of the Bible -- including the King James Version, the New King James Version, the New American Standard Bible, and the New International Version -- have, therefore, translated the word harpazo as "caught up." But English-speaking Bible scholars who studied the Latin Vulgate decided the word rapture was a useful and suitable term to express the scriptural concept of believers being suddenly removed from the world.

If you happened to pick up a copy of the Latin Vulgate at a garage sale, produced by Jerome in the early 400s, you would indeed find the word Rapture," Bible scholars Mark Hitchcock and Thomas Ice have noted. "The Vulgate was the main Bible of the medieval Western church until the Reformation. It continues to this day as the primary Latin translation of the Roman Catholic church ... It should not be surprising to anyone that an English word in regular use today was developed from the Latin. That word, of course, is rapture."

RED FLAG #2: The popular teaching about the "Pre-tribulational Rapture" is a heresy -- because it is not taught in the Bible.

What is often called "The Rapture" is clearly Pre-tribulational (or happens before the 7 year Tribulation). Since this discussion can be very detailed, we decided to provide a link to the Berean Bible Society's excellent commentary on this subject. The Pre-tribulational rapture (established on God's Grace) exposes the error in the various brands of false Legalistic theology that now dominates Christendom ... which often causes fierce disagreements.

Evidence for the Pre-tribulation Rapture

Why I Believe In A Pre-tribulation Rapture

RED FLAG #3: Recognizing the lateness of the hour, various churches and ministers are warning both Christians and the world to "GET READY" ... to avoid being "Left Behind" when the Rapture occurs. Since all the Biblical signs are now pointing to the imminent return of Christ, it is certainly right to sound this warning. But, we must also be aware that the warning creates an opportunity for a heresy that has existed since the birth of the Christian Church. It uses our fear of being "Left Behind" to take Christians dangerously astray in their faith. Bible scholars often call it "Legalism, Galatianism - or the Galatian Heresy". It carries the "Galatian" name because the Apostle Paul wrote about it -- and exposed it -- in his "Epistle to the Galatans". It generally claims that all Christians must commit to 'Righteous Works and Holy Living' to be saved, or for Jesus to find them "Ready" (meaning righteous, worthy and fully qualified) to leave in the Rapture. All of this is usually followed by another warning ... that failure in these efforts will cause a majority of real Christians, who are genuinely 'saved' to be "Left Behind". But, the New Testament reveals that this cleverly contrived doctrine is a lie. Under the New Covenant of Christ (also called "The New and Living Way of Christ"), RIGHTEOUS WORKS AND HOLY LIVING NO LONGER DETERMINES THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OR WORTHINESS OF THE CHRISTIAN, WHICH INCLUDES THEIR QUALIFICATION TO BE IN THE RAPTURE. The New Testament clearly states that Righteousness (or worthiness) is given to all believers in Christ as "a free gift" that is never revoked. This "imputed righteousness" is given at the exact same time we first place our faith in Jesus Christ, His finished work -- and His redeeming blood ... see Romans 5:15-21, 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Romans 11:29 quoted below :

(The Apostle Paul is speaking to the Christian Church in Rome)
"But THE FREE GIFT is not like the offense. For if by the one man's (Adam's) offense many died, much more THE GRACE OF GOD AND THE GIFT BY THE GRACE OF THE ONE MAN, JESUS CHRIST, ABOUNDED TO MANY. And THE GIFT is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but THE FREE GIFT which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, MUCH MORE those who receive abundance of grace AND THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one man's righteous act THE FREE GIFT CAME TO ALL MEN, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, SO ALSO BY ONE MAN'S OBEDIENCE MANY WILL BE MADE RIGHTEOUS. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so GRACE MIGHT REIGN THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS TO ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 5:15-21)

"For He made Him who knew no sin TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM." (2 Corinthians 5:21 -- Emphasis Added)

"FOR GOD'S GIFTS AND HIS CALL ARE IRREVOCABLE. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]" (Romans 11:29 Amplified Bible -- We should know that Eternal Life is also given as "God's gift" -- see Ephesians 2:8-9)

RED FLAG #4: The popular church teaching that claims: 'To be saved or to qualify to be in the Rapture, we must have an active Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ' through daily prayer, Bible reading, religious practices, church attendance and evangelism. But, this is just another aspect of the religious error of 'Legalism/Galatianism' previously outlined. In this situation, the word "relationship" is defined by our works and religious practices, which are added to the requirements to "be saved and/or to participate in the rapture. But, we should remember that the Rapture is directly connected to our salvation by Grace ... and finalizes the COMPLETED SALVATION Jesus provided at the cross. Until the Rapture takes place, the New Testament reminds us that we only have "God's Guarantee" that believers will receive the full benefits given on the day of the Rapture (also known as "The Day of Redemption"). Yet, God's Guarantee can never fail -- and for that reason many think that we already possess what He promised. But, the Bible tells us that we don't receive the full manifestation of God's promise (or the Church's departure from the earth and the receiving of a new spiritual body) until the day of the Rapture. It is only then we are changed -- in "the twinkling of an eye". The New Testament also warns that adding any works to our "salvation by Grace" perverts the gospel and places a curse on those who preach it (See Galatians 1:6-8).

YES ... GOD DESIRES TO HAVE AN ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CHRISTIAN BELIEVER, WHICH INCLUDES ALL THE WORKS AND PRACTICES PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. BUT, GOD DOES NOT ALLOW THESE WORKS AND PRACTICES TO BE PERFORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF EARNING HIS GIFT OF SALVATION OR THEIR PLACE IN THE RAPTURE. GOD PERMANENTLY ESTABLISHED A SPECIAL "RELATIONSHIP" WITH THE BELIEVER THE MOMENT THEY PLACED THEIR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOR ... AND BEFORE THEY HAD PERFORMED ANY GOOD WORKS OR DEMONSTRATED ANY MERIT OR OBEDIENCE. According to the New Testament Scriptures, specifically, "Saint Paul's Epistles to the Church", it is the believer's faith, NOT THE BELIEVER'S WORKS OR MERIT that allows God's Holy Spirit to take up residence inside them. The New Testament calls this "The Sealing of the Holy Spirit" and every truly "Born-Again (saved) Christian believer has received it.

At this point, it is important to know that "The Sealing of the Holy Spirit" and what the New Testament calls, "the Baptism in the Holy Spirit" are two different impartations. As previously stated, "The Sealing of the Holy Spirit", where God's Spirit comes to indwell (or live inside) the believer's physical body (yes, its literal and not symbolic), happens to all Christians (who were previously unbelievers) the instant they place their faith in Christ. "The Baptism in the Holy Spirit" is only for those who are already "sealed" born-again believers -- and is given for the purpose of imparting Spiritual Divine power often needed to perform miracles and to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are still valid today. Most born-again believers have not received "Holy Spirit baptism", which is not a requirement to be saved. They reject Holy Spirit baptism because they are told that they "get it all" when they are saved and that Holy Spirit baptism is false teaching. This results in a Christian life that is void of power, which is a condition we presently see in the modern-day Christian Church.

More information about this important Divine provision is available HERE

IT IS THE "PERMANENT INDWELLING OF
"THE HOLY SPIRIT" THAT VALIDATES
"GOD'S GUARANTEE" THAT HE WILL NOT
REVOKE OR TERMINATE HIS GIFT OF
ETERNAL LIFE/SALVATION ONCE IT
IS RECEIVED ... AS STATED IN
ROMANS 11:29.

"FOR GOD'S GIFTS AND HIS CALL ARE IRREVOCABLE. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]" (Romans 11:29 Amplified Bible -- We should remember that Eternal Life is given as "God's gift" -- see Ephesians 2:8-9)

In John 14:16-17, Jesus told His disciples (just hours before His crucifixion) about two important changes that would take place as the future "New Covenant" started to operate. Under the Old Testament program that ruled during the earthly ministry of Jesus, the Holy Spirit would leave an anointed leader if they persisted in committing sin -- as we see with King Saul. They understood that when the Holy Spirit leaves, SALVATION LEFT WITH HIM. King David's grievous sin with Bathsheba is another prime example. David wept before God, as he realized the spiritual consequences of his sin -- and prayed ...

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence AND DO NOT TAKE YOUR HOLY SPIRIT FROM ME." (Psalms 51:10-11)

It's frustrating to hear various ministers mislead their congregations by teaching -- that the Holy Spirit operates the same way today, under the New Covenant of Christ -- as He did during the Old Testament program of King Saul's and King David's day. Modern-day Christians are often taught, mostly in Holiness and Fundamentalist churches, that the Holy Spirit will leave them (also meaning that they lose their salvation) unless they 'repent'. But, when you closely examine the teaching, their definition of 'repent' is to 'stop sinning'. Yet, in his "New Testament Epistles to the Church", the Apostle Paul reveals that "all have sinned" and that it's impossible for any member of the human race to permanently live in a place where they "stop sinning". If "stopping all sin" is what provides the righteousness that grants salvation ... then the redemption that Jesus provides isn't really needed.

Many churches teach that repentance means to stop sinning. But, if it's impossible to "stop sinning" (and it is), we enter into serious religious bondage and heresy if we make salvation and our inclusion in the Rapture dependent upon something that's impossible. This is the unfortunate situation in many churches that teach Legalism, thinking it's the truth of God's Word.

Contrary to those who embrace Legalism -- even the most obedient and righteous Christian unknowingly sins in various different ways -- every day. The Apostle Paul, who wrote nearly half of the New Testament admitted that he had a recurring sin problem that he hated (Bible scholars call this a "besetting sin") -- but thanked God that Jesus Christ had already solved his problem. It is obvious Paul continually tried, with all his will power (and like so many of us), to stop the sin he hated. But, the solution was not to stop sinning … which is impossible with "besetting sins". Paul's solution was to surrender to the fact that the blood of Jesus had already "taken away all his sin" at the cross (including the one he hated and continued to slip into). The New Testament calls this "Justification". It is where God continually treats all believers (regardless of their "moral status") "as if they had never sinned" -- EVEN WHEN THEY DO SIN. God can legally take this position because Jesus took away all their sin (past, present and future) at the cross. It means that their sin has been totally paid for by the Divine blood of Christ, WHICH NOW MAKES IT UNJUST FOR GOD TO HOLD THEIR SINS AGAINST THEM ANY LONGER -- EVEN WHEN THEY COMMIT THE SAME SIN AGAIN, AS IN THE CASE OF 'BESETTING SINS'.

We are not saying that sin should be ignored. Christians should certainly resist sin in their lives and stop sinning WHERE IT IS POSSIBLE. But, it's impossible to have a healthy and working relationship with God, if you constantly think He is angry or condemning you for sin. This is why believers need to also resist being "sin conscious" and embrace "Justification", where they have the assurance that God relates with them as "having never sinned". JUSTIFICATION SHOULD BE THE MOST DOMINANT TRUTH IN OUR CHRISTIAN LIFE, SINCE THE BLOOD OF JESUS MADE IT A PERMANENT CONDITION. All of this is actually part of something called Sanctification, where having the proper perspective about sin is part of God's training for believers. But, many struggle with countless types of 'besetting sin' and secretly live in fear and religious bondage ... thinking that they might be lost and destined for hell ... because their sin has caused God's Spirit to leave. They are believing a lie because Jesus said that once you receive God's Spirit under the New Covenant, HE STAYS FOREVER (to be covered next). This is the disastrous condition of millions who attend churches that embrace Legalism. We would be incorrect to think this is some kind of "fringe" problem ... because false denominational doctrines and traditions have made it a "majority problem" within Christendom. Paul placed his confession concerning his own sin -- and its solution -- as a way to expose the twin heresies of Legalism and Galatianism, which he fought for the rest of his life.

Jesus Reveals Major Changes

When we read the words of Jesus concerning this subject it becomes clear that many churches embrace the error of Legalism / Galatianism. According to Jesus, the Holy Spirit used to "dwell with you" under the Old Testament program. BUT, UNDER CHRIST'S NEW COVENANT PROGRAM ... THE HOLY SPIRIT NOW "DWELLS INSIDE YOU" (THE BELIEVER). Jesus also reveals one additional truth that changes everything. It was previously understood (under the Old Testament program) that the Holy Spirit would leave if the individual repeatedly sinned (Fact: If the Holy Spirit leaves salvation leaves with Him). But, Jesus introduces a major New Covenant change where the Holy Spirit, once received, ABIDES WITH THE BELIEVER FOREVER ... WHICH MEANS SALVATION CONTINUES TO ABIDE WITH THE BELIEVER ... EVEN IF SIN IS INVOLVED. THE HOLY SPIRIT (ALONG WITH SALVATION) CONTINUES TO INDWELL BECAUSE HE HONORS THE NOW LEGAL FACT ... THAT CHRIST'S BLOOD TAKES AWAY (REMOVES OR REMITS) ALL THE BELIEVER'S SIN -- AND CONTINUES TO TREAT THAT PERSON AS IF THEY HAD NEVER SINNED!

There's probably no other New Testament truths attacked more by Legalists and those who embrace Galatianism ... than these two truths revealed by Jesus. The New Testament teaches that the sacrificial death and shed blood of Jesus Christ; TAKES AWAY ALL OUR SIN -- PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. However, Legalism uses sin to control and dominate their audience (and Internet Subscribers). In other words, Jesus took away their main method of control and domination ... which is something they cannot tolerate and must fight.

(Jesus reveals the conditions that exist under the future New Covenant) "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, THAT HE MAY ABIDE WITH YOU FOREVER -- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you AND WILL BE IN YOU." (Words of Jesus in John 14:16-17 -- Emphasis Added)

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he (Jesus) hath said, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." (Hebrews 13:5-6)

THE "INDWELLING OF GOD'S SPIRIT", IS
WHAT LEGALLY ESTABLISHES AND MAINTAINS
OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD ... AND
REMAINS VALID AND FIRMLY IN PLACE AS
"HIS GUARANTEE" THAT WE WILL "REMAIN
SAVED UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION" ...
WHETHER WE PRACTICE ALL THE RIGHT
THINGS AND DO ALL THE RIGHT WORKS ...
OR NOT. IF THE HOLY SPIRIT LIVES IN
US, WE ARE SAVED AND WILL LEAVE IN
THE RAPTURE.

Once again, it is the "Indwelling of the Spirit of Christ" -- and not our works and efforts, that legally establishes and maintains our relationship with God ... and remains valid and firmly in place AS HIS GUARANTEE THAT WE WILL "REMAIN SAVED", WHETHER WE PRACTICE ALL THE RIGHT THINGS AND DO ALL THE RIGHT WORKS ... OR NOT. THIS IS CALLED GRACE.

"In Him (Jesus Christ) you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, YOU WERE SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE, WHO IS THE GUARANTEE OF OUR INHERITANCE UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THE PURCHASED POSSESSION (ALL TRUE BELIEVERS), to the praise of His glory." (Ephesians 1:13-14 NKJV) (Also Read About "God's Guarantee" In 2 Corinthians 1:22 and 2 Corinthians 5:5)

"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. NOW IF ANY MAN HAVE NOT THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, HE IS NONE OF HIS (HE DOES NOT BELONG TO GOD). And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." (Romans 8:9-11)

"Do you not know that you are the temple of God AND THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit WHICH IS IN YOU, WHICH YE HAVE OF GOD, AND YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN? FOR YE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: BECAUSE GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD." (1 John 4:4)

RED FLAG #5: Beware of the teaching that "all Christians must endure the Tribulation as additional purification from sin." Yet, according to the New Testament, all the purification needed by the Christian believer comes only from the shed blood of Jesus Christ our savior -- AND NOT FROM THE TRIBULATION. This teaching often comes from those who have rejected the finished work of Christ that takes away all our sin, while discrediting Grace and placing believers back under the bondage of the Law. It is taught by those who embrace the popular heresy that the Christian Church is "The new Israel" or that Israel and the Church are interchangeable in Scripture.

RED FLAG #6: Beware of the teaching that the Rapture is only for "Christians who are faithful, repented from all sin and have an abundance of good works". THE RAPTURE REPRESENTS THE FINAL STAGE OF CHRIST'S SALVATION BY GRACE AND CONTINUES TO BE GOVERNED BY GRACE, WHICH EXCLUDES WORKS AND HUMAN MERIT. For many, "repenting from sin" means "stopping all sin", which is a moral state that the Apostle Paul warned was impossible to achieve. As a result, millions of professing Christians are trapped in a religious 'Holiness practice' that can never be satisfied and results in bondage and fear. Under the New Covenant, repentance takes on a whole new meaning ... because Jesus permanently took away all our sin; past, present and future. According to the New Testament, true repentance occurs when we place our faith in the finished work of Christ ... that takes away all our sin.

RED FLAG #7: One of the major signs that we are in "The Last Days" is an increase in prophecy, dreams and visions. The Apostle Peter reminds us of what the Old Testament prophet Joel tells us about this period of time :

'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.' (Acts 2:16-21)

We are now seeing Joel's prophecy come to pass, as many in the Body of Christ (including children and young people) experience dreams and visions about Jesus and future events, including Christ's appearance in both the Rapture and the Second Coming.

But, once again, problems begin to surface when legalists and those who embrace Galatianism (discussed earlier) take advantage of these supernatural occurrences -- and use them to further their false teachings. They validate their doctrine through numerous dreams and visions, often involving Jesus as proof of its authenticity. What is difficult to know ... is whether these dreams and visions come from God ... or whether they are imagined or falsely created by the individual for the purpose of deception. Dreams and visions are often used to promote false doctrine because they are wrongly thought to 'supersede Scripture', which is our 'Final Authority'.

A vast majority of Christians tend to forget that dreams and visions, REGARDLESS OF HOW AUTHENTIC THEY SEEM, NEVER CARRY MORE AUTHORITY (OR EVEN THE SAME AUTHORITY) AS GOD'S WORD. IF IT DISAGREES WITH OR CONTRADICTS SCRIPTURE -- THEN IT ORIGINATES, NOT FROM GOD BUT FROM ANOTHER SOURCE.

THE SEVEN 'RED FLAGS' LISTED IN THIS SECTION REPRESENT ONLY THE MOST COMMON DECEPTIONS, WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO 'PARTIAL RAPTURE TRAUMA' ... DISCUSSED IN THE FOLLOWING INTERVIEW HOSTED BY TIM MOORE AND NATHAN JONES OF LAMB AND LION MINISTRIES. ALL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS INTERVIEW.
